Improved country support
We've updated the country field when editing addresses to now include support for every country in the world. So if you happen to have a member with a Nauru mailing address, you can now properly set it, although I suspect postage will be expensive.
Introducing pinned file folders
Folders in the files section can now be "pinned to the top" of the list of folders and files. This feature is perfect for drawing extra attention to certain folders, such as something that's time-sensitive for your congregation right now.
To pin a folder, click on the three-dot actions menu located to the right of the folder, and select the "Pin to Top" option.
Now you can stop prefixing these folders with an underscore! 😊
"Families not in a shepherding group" report
We've just added a new "Families not in a shepherding group" report to the reports section to help you catch any families in your church that haven't been assigned to a ward, district, or whatever it is that you call shepherding groups in your church.
Improved parent schedule reminders
We just updated the still relatively new "Email parents as well?" schedule setting to now include an "Only when children are not notified" option. This is useful for situations where parents only want to be notified about their children's schedule entries when the children themselves aren't being notified.
Fund totals on My Contributions page
The My Contributions page now includes a new "Show fund totals" toggle to optionally show your fund specific giving totals. This allows you to quickly see how your donations have been distributed across your church's different causes and initiatives.
Date and time automatically set when creating new sermons
Today we released another small improvement to the create sermon page.
This page now automatically sets the date field to the latest Sunday, since nine times out of ten this is what you want, and if you don't you can still easily change it.
We also automatically set the time to "Morning" if it's the first sermon you're creating for that Sunday, and "Afternoon" if it's the second.
Two small improvements that should hopefully save our sermon editors a couple steps each week.
Recent ministers now sorted first
We've just deployed a small enhancement to the create and edit sermon pages. Now, when you're selecting the author for a sermon, the minister input will intelligently sort pastors who have preached recently (within the last couple of months) at the top of the list. This improvement is designed to make it easier for you to find your own pastor when creating new sermons instead of having to scroll through a long list of ministers or typing in a search.
Added the ability to email reminders to parents for child schedule entries
We're excited to announce a new enhancement to the schedules feature in Church Social: email reminders for parents when their children are scheduled for a specific task or event.
This update not only helps parents stay informed and engaged, but is particularly useful in scenarios where a child doesn't have an email address set in Church Social. For example, a nursery schedule that includes younger members of the congregation.
To take advantage of this feature, simply visit the "Edit schedule" page and set the Email parents as well?
option to Yes
. Once enabled, automatic email reminders will be sent to the parents of any children included in the schedule, following the same cadence as regular schedule email reminders.
Added option to only allow members to send messages
Today we added an additional option to the "Who can send messages?" dropdown on the message settings page. This new option is helpful if you'd like to restrict guests from being able to send messages while still allowing regular members to send them.
Improved the library menu
We've made managing your library books a little easier and safer for your librarians. We added a Settings link to the Library page menu and moved the Delete Library option to the settings page, where it is less likely to be triggered by accident.
Added the ability to export the library to Excel
We've made a small update to the library section today. Previously you could only export your library to CSV. We've now added the ability to export to Excel as well.
First class support for New Zealand donation receipts
Today's update is for our friends in New Zealand. We just added first-class support for donation receipts that follow the Charities Services' requirements.
From the giving settings page you can now add an IRD number in addition to your Charities Services registration number. You can also add a church logo to include in the letterhead at the top of the donation receipts.
In addition we have updated the tax fiscal year for New Zealand churches to be from April 1st to March 31st.
Added search feature to the sermons page
Today we made it a little easier to search for past sermons. On the sermons page you'll now see a new search input, which lets you search for sermons by the title, description, author, texts, and series.
You can even search for a specific Bible chapter by wrapping the search query in quotes. For example, find sermons on Matthew 8 using "Matthew 8"
.
Automatic library book cover images
We've made adding library books a little easier. Now whenever you create, import, or update an item in the library section, we will automatically try and load a cover image for it from the openlibrary.org database.
Note, for this to work you must have an ISBN number set for the book.
Added new include option when printing address books
We've updated the member "Address book" print format to include the following new option:
What would you like to include?
- Addresses
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- Maiden names
- Membership markers
This gives you a little more control over what is included in the generated address book, similar to the existing "Sheets" option.
