Sharing your livestream just got easier screenshot

Sharing your weekly service livestreams used to mean finding an embed code, pasting it into Church Social, and hoping it displayed properly on both web and mobile. Often, it didn't. We've just made this a lot better.

We've rebuilt the Livestream page to simplify that setup. You now choose your streaming service, enter your channel details, and Church Social handles how your stream is displayed.

To get started, go to the Livestream page, open the three-dot menu, and choose Edit. Select your streaming service and enter your channel details:

  • YouTube: your channel ID or channel URL
  • SermonAudio: your broadcaster ID or a link to your SermonAudio page
  • BoxCast: your channel's embed link
  • Vimeo: the link to your recurring event
  • Castr: your stream ID or embed link

For churches streaming on YouTube, keeping the page up to date also meant replacing the embed code for each service. Now, you only need to add your channel once. Church Social automatically shows your live stream when you're broadcasting and your most recent service the rest of the time. About 30 minutes before a scheduled service, members will see YouTube's countdown, and playback will begin when you go live.

The page also updates automatically, so members who already have it open will see your stream without needing to refresh.

You can now also add a short help message with details like who to contact if the stream isn't working. Members can view it using the new Need help? button on the Livestream page.

If your church already had a livestream set up, we've moved it over for you. Take a quick look to make sure everything looks right. If you haven't set one up yet, ask your administrator to enable the livestream feature in church settings.
